Majors

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers the following majors:

  • Mathematics: Liberal Arts Mathematics: This major is a Mathematics major with a Specialization in Mathematics.  Graduates earn a B.A. in Mathematics with a Mathematics Specialization.
  • Mathematics: Applied Mathematics:  This major is a Mathematics major with a Specialization in Applied Mathematics.  Graduates earn a B.A. in Mathematics with an Applied Mathematics Specialization.
  • Mathematics: Statistics: This major is a Mathematics major with a Specialization in Statistics.  Graduates earn a B.A. in Mathematics with a Statistics Specialization.
  • Mathematics: Teaching – Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Deaf & Hard of Hearing, Special Education, and Urban Education:  Graduates of the bachelor’s program in these areas earn a B.S. in the corresponding area (i.e. a B.S. in Early Childhood Education).  Mathematics Teaching is a secondary major, but as these are dual majors (which is different than a double major), graduates do not earn a bachelor’s degree in mathematics.
